Pastor Sharon Stewart-Alexander has 29 years of expertise in education, in focus areas of STEM and special education. Pastor Sharon grew up as a youth on 15th Avenue in the Linden area and is a product of Columbus City Public Schools and feels that she is uniquely positioned to navigate the dynamics of outreach and engagement in this unique community.
Founded in March 2009 by Pastor Stewart-Alexander, the Pavilion Church was formed as a covering without limitations for the many ministries of the body of Christ for such a time as this. Psalm 27:5 says, “For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; in the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.”

Pastor Sharon was raised in church. It was at the age of 19 years that Pastor Sharon had an encounter with Jesus Christ.
As Sharon’s hunger for God increased, she began attending church at Greater Liberty Temple, at 1155 Windsor Avenue, under the leadership of the Late Emeritus Reverend W.C. Cupe that she learns more about God and the Holy Spirit. This hunger led her to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in education, at Central State University, in Wilberforce Ohio. Upon graduate in 1991, she returned to the city of Columbus, to attend The Ohio State University to purse her master’s degree; she served several enriching years at a tutor for Columbus City School, in the area of math and science. After, this experience, she took a position in Delaware, Ohio, where she worked as an intervention specialist, in years 1991 – 1995. At the beginning of the school year, she transferred to Toledo, Ohio where she worked as an educator and coach at Waite High school. After a three-year tenure, she returned to the city of Columbus to work as certified teacher at Linden McKinley High school, as an intervention specialist. After five years, she transferred to her currently school location, Medina Middle School, where she coached, softball, baseball and basketball for middle schools, as continued her role as an intervention specialist.
In 1986, Pastor Sharon accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior and because to evangelize her faith in 1993-1994, throughout the city of Columbus, central Ohio and in the southern states, e.g., Mississippi. After much labor in the vineyard and the encouragement of her beloved mother, the late Mary Elizabeth Stewart, Pavilion Ministries was founded March 2009 (in her mother’s home In 2009, Pastor Sharon was licensed to preach in as a minister of the Gospel in 2000; as an evangelist, she was licensed in 2006. After much preparation and labor in the Gospel, Pastor Sharon was ordained in 2009, as Pastor of Pavilion Ministries, in the city of Columbus.
Since ordination in 2009, Pastor Sharon has once again felt God leading the church to grow to new heights; Pastor Sharon as administrator and a certified educator, has an extensive background of pastoral ministry experience, especially working with children, youth and young adults. She has a heart and a passion for children and the upcoming generations, as well as for the entire body of Christ. With a creative entrepreneurial spirit, along with administrative gifts, Pastor Sharon feels God has equipped her and her ministry to establish the foundation for a bright future for God’s church and its people at the Pavilion Church.
In addition to her biblical leadership principles as it pertains to business, another one of Pastor Sharon’s personal passions is the study of science. She has developed several literacy programs in partnership with other agencies with curriculum that targets pre-teens by encouraging them to see the fingerprints of the God of the universe, the Creator of Science, within creation itself. It’s not unusual for Pastor Sharon to incorporate colorful examples from the world of science as a part of her sermons.
Although Pastor Sharon, in not in a traditional family dynamic, she feels very pleased to have the support of close professional friends, extended family and community on her missionary journey.
